#108 - the future of the planet

Is there hope, do you think? Or not so much? Maybe you're impatiently awaiting the Rapture; maybe you think we've already doomed the Earth and the human race to a wasting death; maybe you think everything will be just fine.

What is the future of the planet?

This post isn't finished, probably. I have a lot more I'd like to add, but it's late and I'm tired. I'll look again tomorrow (but won't change the title).

My first post is a serious look at the possibilities for our future. Post #2 is an older poetic and graphic piece I recently edited and posted for Earth Day 2008.

The world will end, it is just a question of when. And when is up to us. What will we do? How will we do it? Those are the big questions we need to tackle to establish whether the world will end in the next few decades, centuries or millions of years.

What an awesome blog and such a smart idea. I am so glad I found this place online!

Don't know if I've ever posted a Sunday Scribbling on a Friday before, but when I saw the prompt, out it flowed, so my post is up!

I had written the post sometime back. The future is as good or as bad as the mind can percieve.

The Captain Hastings of prompts, I poirot off into oblivion. More importantly, why is there a smiley face next to my name? That, my friends, is the Presbyterian doom.

For me, the future is a blurry space that could have possibility if we so will it.

Dire warnings, doom-laden predictions. But I'm not convinced.

So many doom and gloom earth day posts... is there any hope? I hope so, and I write about the little things, and that bigger power that might make things turn our OK.
Every little thing.
Thanks for this prompt.

Instead of writing something myself, I decided to collect some of my favorite quotes or passages from 12 contributions here, thereby creating a little anthology, so to speak.

I guess the future all depends on the choices we make in the present, all while being cognizant of the mistakes of the past. God help us.

My post isn't so much about the planet but it does have a futuristic point of view to it so I thought it fit in some kind of way. That's why I shared it.

It's been a while since I posted a Sunday Scribbling topic and that's because I have been working 50-60 hours a week...and I'll leave it at that. However, when I posted my post a bit ago, I thought I would check the Sunday Scribbling prompt for the weekend and well, I thought it fit.

So there you go. Feel free to check it out at http://quintessentialfeline.blogspot.com/2008/04/feeling-inspired.html.

I was just going through things today and came to that story about the little boy throwing starfish out into the ocean and an old man tells him it's hopeless and he won't make a difference but the little boy keeps going and points out that he made a difference to the ones he's throwing back. Somehow, that turned my brain around onto taking baby steps in my own life

Well I used this prompt, to show what I can do for the future of this planet to be pleasant. A little different than the main theme :)

Oh well, I might be late but at least I'm not a no-show.
